The highest known workers' compensation insurance settlement in California history has been secured.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Attorney Christopher Asvar secured a record-breaking insurance settlement, totaling $8.9 million for his young client who suffered a workplace traumatic brain injury.

About three years ago, Asvar, who specializes in workplace and civil brain injury litigation, was introduced into his client's case. The client had fallen twenty feet from a scaffold while working as a painter five years ago.

Asvar's client was suffering from severe depression, deficits, anxiety, psychosis, self-mutilation, and a psychiatric diagnosis of multiple personality disorder. Although the client had no evidence of a brain injury due to a showing of negative MRI and CT scans, Asvar prevailed saying his client's symptoms ultimately came to be a "mild" traumatic brain injury.

"This settlement is the highest anyone is aware of for a California workers' compensation award," said Steve Chapman, structured settlement specialist involved with the case.

Asvar was recognized by the Los Angeles magazine's list of Super Lawyers, being awarded "Outstanding Young Lawyers in Southern California" for four consecutive years, 2009-2012.
