LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Mieliwocki is a seventh-grade English teacher in Los Angeles. Mieliwocki maintains "big expectations" for her 7th grade class, however, she also remembers that "school should be fun," according to Obama during a White House celebration. Known for inspiring and motivating students, she often uses the Socratic method of questioning to stimulate students' critical thinking and to create active lessons. The Burbank, Ca., teacher hosts family nights, sends out weekly memos to parents, and has a Facebook page for her class, noted the president.
