Republicans and conservatives are now locked out of the state legislature with the Democrats holding a supermajority.
California Republicans are being cut out of government in the state as Democrats are about to gain a supermajority in both chambers of the state legislature. Republicans will no longer be able to block tax increases or any other democratic legislation.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The preliminary results of Tuesday's contests show that Democrats are sweeping into Sacramento with a two-thirds majority in both the state Assembly and Senate.

Tax increases in the state require a two-thirds vote, which means that California taxpayers may soon see new taxes, an issue that Republicans have made dear.

Democrats say that raising taxes is not on their radar, but that job creation is.

By and large, the public also seems to support tax increases for critical services such as education and public safety.

Polls show that less than 30 percent of Californians are registered Republican, which is the lowest number since record-keeping began.
